Biography

KR Horst Kahlbacher, CEO of the company Toni Kahlbacher GmbH & Co. KG, passed away on 7^th July, 2010, at the age of 69.

After his schooling Mr. Horst Kahlbacher entered the parental company in December 1960; as operations manager and CEO he was instrumental in the development of the family business for almost 50 years.

There were many new and further developments carried out during his career. So he gets the Josef Madersberger innovator prize.

He was instrumental in the development of the “Schneewiesel”. The “Schneewiesel” was developed in 1969 and it was one of the first modern snow groomer for maintain the ski slopes.

Under his leadership in the year 1997 the passenger stair Jet Step was constructed. For this further development company Kahlbacher gets the award of innovation. The passenger stair is on many Austrian airports in action and it is an important second foothold.

Due to many other innovations and further developments, it was possible to make a name of oneself as leading supplier of snow clearing equipment and to have success in the whole world. Horst Kahlbacher senior took over the leadership of the company from his father Toni in 1991. Today the company achieves a turnover of 20 million Euro a year.

It was also a particular concern of him to look after his staff members. He appreciated the commitment of every worker, from the apprentice to the foreman, and he had personal conversations. Mr. Horst Kahlbacher junior, who has been CEO yet, will lead the company to the future.
